Last weekend we attended the Thrive Banquet at Maranatha. This is primarily a thank-you dinner for the donors of MBU, and we were there to represent the Hannah Glass Scholarship. As a refresher, we set this scholarship up to help other students (girls primarily) who, like Hannah, demonstrate a strong work ethic and character in their education, in working to pay for their education, and in their personal lives at home, school, and church. Last year we were excited to meet Emma Sinclair, the first Hannah Glass Scholarship recipient. Emma grew up on the mission field in Cameroon, Africa. You can read about her here from last year’s post. As we arrived at Maranatha, we were able to talk to Emma again, and she is doing very well. She actually gave a thank-you speech at the dinner. Emma is a special girl, and it’s wonderful to be a small part of helping her prepare for her future.
This year, we have two more recipients of Hannah’s Scholarship. The first is Natalie Harms, and she says, “I am a junior studying Elementary Education with a minor in English. I love working with children and helping them foster a love for learning. Though I do not yet know where the Lord is leading me after graduation, I believe he is directing me to teach upper elementary in a public school. As I look forward to student teaching next fall, I cannot wait to see what the Lord will teach me through this experience! Thank you for all of the help you have been to me both financially and spiritually.”
The second recipient is Rebekah Birschbach and she says, “I am a Junior English Education major at Maranatha Baptist University. I want to become an English teacher because I recognize the crucial reading skills are dwindling in students today. I also thoroughly enjoy reading myself, and I want to help students develop their own love for reading. When I am not reading in my free time, you could find me crafting, hiking, or acting in theater programs. In addition to my major, God has allowed me to get involved with several leadership roles where I get to pour into the people around me through encouragement, prayer, and fellowship. I have been incredibly blessed by God through his countless provisions for my spiritual, physical, mental, and financial needs.”
It‘s a blessing to have this opportunity to help young women as they prepare for their futures. Hannah would be proud, especially because these girls love English too! If you are able to help young people in their endeavors to learn and to serve the Lord, please donate, in Hannah’s name at: https://www.mbu.edu/give/
In the designation space select “Scholarship Fund.” Then in the next box, designate those funds for the Hannah Glass Scholarship Fund. It’s a real blessing and honor to remember the life of our daughter in this way, and to use her life and story to help others, just as she would.

At the dinner we were also able to talk to several people, and one of these was Andrew. He is the one that takes Hannah Story Tracts on his mission trips. He went on five of these trips this year, and we mentioned his trips to the Philippines and Peru in previous posts. Thank You Andrew! It is a blessing to know these special people, and they remind us that,
We are blessed.
