This past Tuesday we were invited to join Dillon’s parents, Angel and George, up in Green Bay at the Bellin Health Medical Center for their first “Do It For Dillon” anaphylaxis training event. Bellin has three women who are leading them into the future in regard to anaphylaxis training and preparedness. Paula, Kerry, and Rachel are medical professionals who are taking the allergy problem very seriously, and we are very thankful for their vision and hard work within their medical system and in their communities. We met Paula a few weeks back when we were at the WEMSA Expo. She was involved in our training of the 300 high school students the day we were there.
Bellin Health merged with Gunderson Health and it’s part of an 11-hospital system (Emplify Health) that employs 14,000 people with over 100 clinic locations. They serve northern Wisconsin and the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. Obviously, this is a substantial step forward as these three women begin teaching these classes to members of their own medical system and ultimately to the public.

We were there to share Hannah’s Story with those who were being trained and to support Paula, Kerry, and Rachel on their first training event. The “students” were mostly nurses, but there was one allergist there too. He really appreciated the class as he sees the need for it and its value. Hopefully soon he and other doctors will be leading in this training too. While we were there, we did a short tv interview with WBAY. Here is the link. While tornados, rain, hail, and flooding affect our state this week, it’s good to see that there is good happening too!
Thank you Bellin for your leadership in advancing the education and preparation for these severe allergic reactions! Thank you to Paula, Kerry, and Rachel for your hard work and leadership within your own medical system. As parents, we are not medical professionals. We got here the VERY hard way, and we very much appreciate it when smarter people than us see the need, catch the vision, and step up and share this burden with us. Thank you also to all those who attended. It’s so encouraging to meet everyone and to see that there are people who are willing to take time out of their busy schedules to prepare themselves for the sake of others!
We are blessed.
