Supporting Organ Donation

Yesterday we had a meeting in Milwaukee with Versiti. They are the organization that handles blood, organ, and tissue donations for a large portion of Wisconsin, and they’re the ones that helped us turn Hannah’s tragedy into something very special. This was our first time going to their office building and gps had us get off the freeway at an exit right outside American Family Field, the Milwaukee Brewers baseball stadium. We didn’t think much of it until we were on the exit ramp. Then, there were barricades between the lanes, and they were funneling all traffic into the parking lot. We needed to turn away from the stadium, but we soon learned that yesterday was Opening Day for the Brewers, and they were having an early afternoon game. So, we ended up in the parking lot of the stadium! There were people tailgating, police directing traffic, and people walking all over as we found our way around the stadium. Obviously, we were the only ones that were trying to leave! We were able to get back out of the parking area on the far side, and in the end, we didn’t lose too much time.

We were meeting with Versiti because we are now volunteers for them in support of organ and tissue donation. This is an exciting opportunity because it gives us the chance to share Hannah’s Story and about our decision to Donate Life at public events around the state. It also means that we are not “starting from scratch.” Just like with our work in allergy awareness, the door to share Hannah’s Story in the area of organ donation is wide open. Along with that, April is Donate Life Month. This year Hannah is featured on the poster that they are using to support the Gift of Life. Unfortunately, our biggest limiting factor at this point is finances. We need donations to be able to do these things, and we are excited to see how God will provide. We are moving forward step by step, and we look forward to seeing how God will continue to use Hannah in the lives of others.

We are blessed.
