EPI TRAINING

Yesterday we had the privilege of attending the “Do It For Dillon” anaphylaxis and epinephrine training course that was hosted by the MBU Nursing Class of 2027. These girls did a terrific job at explaining what allergies are, what anaphylaxis is, and how to administer multiple epinephrine administration devices. There were five girls that spoke. Each one taught a portion of the “Do It For Dillon” course. We sat in the back and just watched. When the girls started, my first thought was, “Wow, they are doing sooo much better than I would!” I guess we all have our strengths and weaknesses…. Anyway, as they began the course, they shared both Dillon’s story and Hannah’s. Even though we live with this every day, we still get choked up when we hear it out loud. In my head all I could think was, “Yup, as unbelievable as it is, that’s what happened.”

There was room for about twenty-five students, and all the seats were taken. The girls taught the course last week too, but we didn’t go because we really do want this to be “their mission” and not ours. We heard that they were disappointed that we didn’t attend last week, so we were glad to go yesterday. Sometimes these things are just a little awkward as we all move forward together.

This was more-or-less an “inhouse” training event as MBU works at training it’s students and staff. We look forward to a larger and more public training event next month for everyone. We are going to try to hold this next one on a Saturday, in Watertown, at Maranatha, probably towards the end of the month. We will share details with everyone once they are finalized. As the school year “winds down” it actually is getting busier for the students as they prepare for finals and the end of the semester.

We would like to send a GREAT BIG THANK YOU to Kylie. Lynnzie, Chloe, Cameron, Sarah, and their teacher and friend, Elizabeth Stille. You guys did a great job! We are very proud of you, and very thankful for you too! Keep up the good work!

We Are Blessed
