Good news, not so good news, and some more good news this week. First let’s start with the good. We were able to go through Hannah’s memorial service video and break it up into individual videos. These videos are posted on our HannahHelps19 YouTube channel:. https://www.youtube.com/@HannahHelps19
Here is “Amazing Grace.” One of the nine selections.
We do also have the entire memorial service there as well, but it is a bit lengthy for those of us with limited time. There are nine separate videos in the “Memorial Service” series. They include: 1. The “Memorial Prelude” performed by the MBU Chamber Strings 2. Two congregational songs, “Be Still, My Soul” and “It Is Well with My Soul” led by Dr. David Brown and sung by over 1,000 friends and family who came to honor Hannah. 3. “Everlasting Arms” sung by the Calvary Baptist Church of Jefferson Vocal Ensemble. 4. A beautiful arrangement of “Amazing Grace” sung by the MBU Chamber Singers. 5. The Life of Hannah Glass, written by her father and read by Dr. Andrew Goodwill. 6. “Psalm 23” sung by the MBU Madrigal Singers. 7. “Dad’s Eulogy” written by her father and read by Dr. Matthew Davis. 8. “You are Always Good” sung by the MBU Combined Choirs. 9. Last but not least, we have one video, “Speaking, Message, and Prayer” that combines the opening welcome and prayer by Dr. David Anderson, the Scripture Reading by Pastor Bob Loggans, the message from Psalm 23 by Dr. David Anderson, and finally the closing prayer by Dr. Marty Marriott.
It’s true that a funeral is not the typical place to go for a “good time,” but to all of those in attendance, it was a very unique and special service. We heard many comments from guests saying that they had never been to a service like this before or that there was something powerful and intangible about the service that led some to want to just stay for a while afterwards. We, ourselves, understand that God was in this whole event, from start to finish, and He saw fit to honor the life, ministry, and death of His precious servant in a unique way at this memorial service. Perhaps it was reminiscent of the “Welcome” that she received when she arrived in heaven and heard those beautiful words, “Well done my good and faithful servant.” We encourage you to take advantage of these videos. You will not be disappointed!
On the “not so good news” front, this week our son Robert crashed on his bike and broke his arm up in the shoulder. It’s the classic, “boys will be boys”, overconfident on a bicycle story that plagues most families at some point. The location of the break does not allow for a cast because it’s so high up and it’s not so bad that it would require immediate surgery. So, he was sent home with a basic sling and told to take some ibuprofen or Tylenol for pain. The plan is to let it heal on it’s own for a week or so, then rex-ray it, then reevaluate things. The doctors believe that it should heal adequately on its own, but if not, then surgery could be a possibility. We will see next week!.

As parents, we were looking for a “break” from difficulties for a change, but this “BREAK” is not what we had in mind… (Sorry for the corny joke.) Honestly though, it was extremely disappointing to see a very obvious break on the x-ray, but then to be sent home with just a simple sling and basically told, “Good Luck.” It is unfortunate that the location of this leaves us with few options. He needs to be as upright, still, and comfortable as possible to allow the bones to fuse back together, so we went out and found a reclining chair at a discount store for him to sit and sleep in. The first days and nights were pretty long! He was not comfortable in any position and the over-the-counter pain medications did not seem adequate. He is bruised on his knee and both elbows with a scrape on the elbow of the broken arm too, so that’s in the sling too. Janean “slept” on the couch next to him this week and she too was pretty tired but today seems like things are definitely improving. The knee and other elbow feel better, and the pain has gone down in the broken shoulder as long as he takes the “meds” and sits still. Again, these are somewhat “normal” family events and overall, it’s a lot better today than where we were Monday. He says that this never hurt as bad at his leg did when he broke that on the trampoline several years ago.
One last piece of good news then. We sent out nearly all the 2,000 “Hannah Story ‘Tracts’” and as I am writing this, the UPS man dropped off 3,000 more! We have heard some good feedback on these and are working on getting them translated into Spanish as well! Bearing Precious Seed is willing to print those too! Hannah loved BPS and it’s very special to us that they are helping out in this way. If you would like some of these for yourself, your church, school, or whatever, please email us at hannahhelps19@gmail.com and we will ship them to you, free of charge. If you wish to donate to this cause, please send your donations to Bearing Precious Seed directly. As they are a blessing to us, we want to be a blessing to them, and we don’t want this to be an expense on their end. Their ministry is printing, shipping, and distributing Bibles and they have graciously done this for us. Including shipping to us, they cost around 15 cents each. Here is a link to their donate page if you are able to help them spread the gospel and Hannah’s Story around the world.:
We are blessed.
