Because He Lives!

Easter is always a busy weekend. With extra church responsibilities and family celebrations, we all are probably feeling a little more tired today than just your average Monday. So, today we will just keep it simple and mention just a couple things.

Since most of us were busy last weekend, we will repost the picture that we created on Good Friday. Our intention is to depict the significance of the Easter holiday that we just celebrated. Because of Jesus’ resurrection, we know that Hannah is alive with Him and that we will be together again. We selected several verses that relate to these thoughts. Because He lives, we have “hope” not sorrow. (This doesn’t mean that any of this is easy. We face daily reminders of our loss, daily dreams about what happened, and constant bombardment by the “What If’s”.) Rather it means that despite how we feel, we can be reassured by what we “know”. This “faith” is the reality and the proof of things unseen (Hebrews 11:1), and it all hinges on the resurrection of Jesus. As Hannah sang, “Because He lives, I (We) can face tomorrow!”

Also, we have been notified that we will be able to directly communicate with two of the recipients in the near future. We each have to sign paperwork approving of this. These documents do point out that, although not often, there can be a wide range of things that might be problematic in this type of relationship. Politics, religion, age, lifestyle, etc. can make things uncomfortable or worse for some people. It was a good reminder that what we are doing can be very personal and very private, and that it needs to be handled cautiously. We did sign the papers because we would like the recipients to know who Hannah was, as she has become a big part of their lives, BUT we also want them to know that we are happy for them and that we are glad that we could be a part of something so special. We understand that they didn’t want to be in their position any more than we wanted to be in ours. There is no guilt or shame in this. The simple reality is that the same God that chose to take Hannah home, also chose to use her passing to save their lives. They were where God wanted them, just as we were. As we move forward with this, we will update when possible. Again, this is going to be a slow process, and everyone will need their privacy. We will be writing one final note to the other two recipients. (We are still allowed to communicate with them through Versiti.) We will tell them about Hannah and of our interest in communicating with them more personally, but if they are not interested, we would at least like them to have the opportunity to get to know Hannah, even if we never hear from them or meet.

We are blessed
