Day 4 1230 report
Hello everyone. The medications were reduced to zero a few hours ago. To this point she still remains unconscious. There have been no negatives yet either, but there have been a few positives. She has had no seizures! Her gag/cough reflex seems to be getting stronger, and it even led to leg and foot movement plus even a tear. Also, when they tested her extremities she had a reflex to pain in her feet, hands, and neck. The medical teams are saying that obviously, without her “awake”, nothing can be done for further testing. It’s a matter of waiting patiently. The medications have been given heavily over a 4-day period, so the buildup in her system can take quite a while to dissipate. All good news is good news! Thank you all so much for your prayers and support.
We are blessed!
We have been so blessed to have such an amazing staff here at the hospital! These are two nurses that each have gone far above and beyond the call of duty with us. Nurse Hannah on the left rearranged her life and schedule so that she could work again today to be with us on what would have been her day off. Nurse Jackie on the right went shopping on her day off and then stopped by to give our Hannah these wonderful Christmas decorations. We have been playing Christmas music constantly since we began dropping the medications down. As many of you know, Hannah loves both food and Christmas! She was excited, like in July, to get the semi load of Christmas trees in at Hobby Lobby, where she worked! Last week she was making it very clear that since the world is forgetting Thanksgiving, Christmas music was going to begin the first of November, rather than after Thanksgiving. We have been calling the IV hanging stand, her Christmas tree. Now the room is decorated, and there is music. Some have gotten sentimental about the idea of snow, but hey, let’s not get too crazy! God has us here for a reason. Being able to meet such wonderful individuals has certainly been one of them, and we are so humbled.

Jackie and Hannah decorated the room for Hannah and Jackie also bought Hannah a beautiful blanket!
Dr. Anderson, the president of Maranatha, and his wife Abi brought over a shipment of cards and gifts from her friends at school. Janean is reading each one to Hannah right now. Again, WE ARE BLESSED!
7pm update:
The medications remain off since there have been no seizures! Hannah has had a mild fever that comes and goes every few hours. Sometimes removing a blanket is enough, other times she gets cooled down with ice packs, and this time she was given a small dose of Tylenol into her feeding tube as well. She has not woken up, but everything remains good. 4 days of heavy sedation take a while to dissipate. Janean is still reading messages from friends from Hannah’s school, and there is one great big long one from her close friend Abby. This one will get special attention! The night shift has arrived, and we are praying for a quiet, peaceful night while we wait. Rest is a bit hard to get in long chunks, but we are doing what we can. Lord willing our doctors, nurses, and friends, both far and near, will all be hearing from Hannah herself someday soon. This has been a unique opportunity to connect and reconnect with you all. Thank you all for the incredible love and support!
We are blessed!
Good night from Christmas Village!
