Some very dear friends of ours met up with us today. They are on a journey of faith as well and could use prayers! It was an amazing few minutes of fellowship and encouragement! He needs a lung transplant.
We have received one last update for the night. Hannah is on half of her meds now and has had no seizures! They will reduce them again later on tonight, then turn them completely off early in the morning, Lord willing, if there are still no seizures. If all goes well, they will be able to more fully examine the full initial extent of the damage that has taken place. If the seizures return, they will re-medicate and adjust the plan tomorrow. This will be a long tedious process. We appreciate you all!
We are blessed!
An update from the parents:
It was a rollercoaster of a day, as we faced the realities of the situation. Obviously, we were made aware that the worst-case scenario would require us to make the ultimate, “final decision” regarding Hannah’s life. It’s every parent’s worst fear! This certainly has been considered and suppressed since we were in the waiting room in Watertown, but to have it spoken openly by the professionals was far different. We were also told that the possibility of significant and permanent disability was high. Although this is not the outcome that we are praying for, it was a bit of relief. We just want our daughter back!
This whole situation is like riding a rollercoaster without a seatbelt. Sometimes you’re in the seat, sometimes you’re not, but all you can do is just keep holding on! This journey of faith that we are on has us, like Peter in the Bible, walking on water. Currently we are out of the boat, our feet are feeling the water, but we cannot look down. Looking towards the One who can keep us up is the only way.
Although the days are long, and the nights even longer, the activity is relatively low and the stress level turned up to 110%. The constant pressure of trying to be ready for all scenarios at the same time is extremely taxing. Sleep is short and then there is no falling back asleep. Our world is skewed down to putting almost all our focus on Hannah, while wanting to update all those who care because we understand that there are a lot of people who care about Hannah! Life is a little more simple, this is all we should be doing now. The events in the world around us have faded away and the only thing that matters is Hannah, our dependance on Jesus, and the inadequacy that we feel from the outpouring of love and support for us and our amazing daughter!
We are blessed!
